Bio

The Aglica Trio consists of Carys Gittins (flute), Agnieszka Żyniewicz (viola) and Lise Vandersmissen (harp). They met in 2017 in the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London and have been performing across Europe and the UK ever since.

In January 2024 they won the Belgian Chamber Music Competition organised by the Belgian classical radio: the Supernova Competition. This resulted in a Belgian concert tour, interviews on the radio and a recital that was broadcast live on the radio in the Bozar Concert Hall in Brussels. Last summer, the Aglica Trio recorded their debut album with four new compositions written for them. The commissioned composers and the Trio worked closely together during the composition process.

Bringing their Welsh, Polish and Belgian influences together, the Aglica Trio explore a range of less known composers over the centuries as well as the standard trio repertoire. They aim to expand the trio repertoire by commissioning new repertoire.

The Aglica Trio have performed in prestigious venues across the UK and Europe, including Bozar Concert Hall in Brussels, De Singel in Antwerp, Milton Court Concert Hall, the Charterhouse, the Old Church in Stoke Newington, St. Olave’s Church, St. Giles in the Fields and many more. The Aglica Trio recently became Sofar Sounds Artists, which resulted in some wonderful concerts in intimate locations across London: as a skyscraper, beer brewery, an old nightclub and many more.
