Top Brass Trio is formed of three friends who met whilst studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama; Corey Morris (Trumpet), Tom Taffinder (Horn), and Dafydd Thomas (Trombone). Corey and Dafydd have recently become full time members of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, on Principal Trumpet No. 3 and Principal Trombone No. 2 respectively. Dafydd was previously 2nd Trombone with Welsh National Opera.
Top Brass Trio is a dynamic and versatile group that have performed throughout the UK, regularly featuring live on BBC Radio 3 and on BBC Songs of Praise. They are committed to music education and continue to entertain and inspire young audiences nationwide, by breaking down the boundaries of classical music.
Members of the group work in settings such as the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain, National Youth Ensembles and the RWCMD Senior and Junior Conservatoires.
As individuals they have worked with orchestras including the BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, English National Ballet, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, and Welsh National Opera.
Tom (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and Corey (I Should Be So Lucky) have both held Principal chairs on touring shows, and have deputised on shows such as: Billy Elliott, Beauty & The Beast, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Misérables, Mary Poppins, Matilda, Miss Saigon, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Sunset Boulevard, The King & I, The Wizard of Oz, Wicked, and 42nd Street.
The group offer concerts in both English and Welsh, as Dafydd is first language Welsh.
